How the USMC JEPES calculator converts fitness scores

MCO 1616.1 Appendix B provides separate conversion tables for lance corporal and below, and for corporal. Raw fitness scores are not simply divided by 300. The two converted fitness values are summed, multiplied by 1.25, and rounded as directed in the manual.

Cutting scores are not retrieved automatically. Enter the target cutting score you are working toward, and score each test first in the USMC PFT calculator and the USMC CFT calculator.

Questions about this tool

Why do lance corporal and corporal produce different JEPES values?

MCO 1616.1 Appendix B provides separate fitness conversion tables for lance corporal and below, and for corporal. The same raw PFT or CFT score can therefore convert to different values. Select the applicable current grade rather than assuming that a universal percentage of the raw 300-point fitness total applies.

How is the physical-toughness pillar calculated?

The tool looks up the PFT and CFT values in the selected rank-specific tables, adds the two values, multiplies the sum by 1.25, and rounds to the nearest whole point as directed. It then adds the other three awarded pillar values supplied by you, each within its 250-point range.

Does the JEPES worksheet retrieve current cutting scores?

No. You enter a target cutting score manually for planning. The displayed gap compares that value with the worksheet total and does not determine monthly selection, eligibility, or whether the chosen cutoff applies to your MOS. Consult the official promotion system and your unit for the applicable current records and requirements.

Should I enter raw marksmanship or course results in the other pillars?

Enter already awarded pillar points, not unconverted raw scores from other activities. This worksheet directly implements the published fitness conversion while leaving the other pillar calculations to their authorized source records. Re-entering a raw activity score as if it were awarded pillar points can produce a misleading planning total.
