Marine Corps Body Fat & WHtR Calculator

Marine Corps body fat calculator for the September 2026 WHtR screen, with the 0.52 limit and the secondary tape and BIA evaluation.

Second-batch tool

Your measurements

Use the lower of two waist measurements. The September 2026 procedural guidance rounds both waist and height down to the nearest half inch.

The September procedural quick guide states a ratio less than or equal to 0.52000. A higher result calls for an authorized body-fat evaluation, rather than an automatic BCP determination.

Secondary body-fat evaluation: tape and recorded BIA

If the WHtR screen requires a secondary evaluation, use the published Marine matrix and your evaluator’s measured BIA result. BIA cannot be calculated from a tape measurement.

Two authorized evaluators each take three complete sets. Use the lowest body-fat estimate from the six sets, rather than mixing the lowest measurement from each site.

The age-group allowance gains one percentage point when both PFT and CFT reach 250. At 285 on both, the maximum is 26% for males or 36% for females. An authorized evaluator determines any BCP action.

How the Marine Corps body fat screen works

The first screen is not a Marine Corps height and weight table check: it uses your height and waist. The published procedure rounds the ratio at the fifth decimal place and includes the boundary 0.52000. This differs from the shorter webpage summary that displays <0.52. We use the dated procedural document.

If WHtR exceeds the limit, the guidance calls for the authorized tape test and/or BIA process. The secondary evaluation panel uses the published Marine circumference matrix and an optionally entered measured BIA percentage. Strong PFT and CFT scores can affect the permitted body-fat allowance, but do not remove the initial WHtR assessment.

Questions about this tool

Is exactly 0.52000 within the Marine screening boundary?

The September 2026 procedural quick guide explicitly includes a ratio less than or equal to 0.52000. This calculator follows that dated procedure at the boundary. A shorter webpage summary uses different shorthand, which is why the source note identifies the procedural document rather than silently treating the two descriptions as equivalent.

Which Marine waist measurement is used?

Use the lower of the two waist measurements under the current guidance. The procedural document records both height and waist down to the nearest half inch and rounds the resulting ratio at the fifth decimal place. Correct measurement technique still matters; the calculator only applies the recording steps to values you supply.

Does exceeding Marine WHtR automatically mean BCP assignment?

No. A higher ratio calls for the authorized body-fat evaluation process described by the guidance. This page therefore reports that further evaluation is required instead of issuing a final BCP assignment. Authorized personnel apply the tape or BIA method, relevant allowances, and the complete program requirements to the individual case.

Can PFT and CFT scores remove the Marine waist assessment?

Fitness performance can affect a permitted body-fat allowance under the governing policy, but it does not remove the initial waist-to-height assessment implemented here. Keep your PFT and CFT results available for the authorized evaluator. The secondary panel looks up each complete tape set in the published Marine matrix and uses the lowest of six estimates. Enter a measured BIA result to compare the two methods with the applicable performance allowance.
